About us

Most health writing online is trying to sell you something. Sometimes it says so. More often it does not, and you find out three paragraphs in, when the article stops explaining and starts recommending a product with a link attached.

100 Years is built the other way round. We do not sell supplements. We do not take sponsored articles. We do not use affiliate links. The site is funded by advertising, which is displayed in clearly marked slots and has no influence over what we write or what conclusions we reach.

What we cover

The question behind everything here is a simple one: what actually makes the difference between reaching eighty in poor health and reaching ninety-five in good health?

Most of the answer is unglamorous. Sleep, movement, what you eat, the state of your mind, and paying attention to a handful of numbers before they become a diagnosis. Those are our sections, and they are ordered by how much evidence sits behind them rather than by how interesting they sound.

We are as interested in what does not work. A large part of the longevity field is running well ahead of its evidence, and someone has to say so.

What we are not

We are not doctors, and nothing here is medical advice. We write about research; your GP knows your history, your medication and your test results, and we do not.

We are also not neutral about quality. When a study is small, or done in mice, or funded by a company with an interest in the result, we say so in the article rather than in a disclaimer at the bottom.

Who writes this

Articles are researched and written by the 100 Years editorial team. Every factual claim is sourced to the original study or guideline wherever possible, rather than to another article that cited it. Sources are listed at the end of each piece so you can check our work.

The rules we hold ourselves to are written down rather than implied. Our editorial standards cover independence, sourcing and the language we use, and how we read the evidence sets out the questions we ask of a study before we write a word about it. Both take two minutes to read and will tell you more about this site than anything else here.

If you think we have got something wrong, tell us. We would rather be corrected than be wrong quietly — and when it happens, it goes on the corrections page.

One email a week. Nothing to buy.

A short summary of what we published, what the research actually said, and anything we got wrong. No sponsored posts, no affiliate links, no products for sale.
